Contributing Editor for South-Eastern Asia, RHJ

Jan Pavlas (1982, Prague, Czech Republic).
Author, writer, field herpetologist, explorer and culinary enthusiast who currently spends most of his time in Mindanao where he participates on research aimed at biodiversity of local herpetofauna.
He is developing his own program aimed at education and coexistence of local inhabitants with reptiles, especially with venomous snakes. He passes his knowledge on to indigenous and local communities, university students or rangers in protected areas. With his lectures and talks, he also participated on events held by University of Southern Mindanao or Mindanao State University—General Santos.
One of his activities is running an educative and informative Facebook Page Herping Honza—Mindanao Reptile Enthusiast. The main goal of this project is to introduce the fascinating world of amphibians and reptiles to the people of the Philippines, change the perception of native wildlife and contribute to positive change in greater scale.
When he does not explore deep in rainforests and ancestral domains, he gains mental strength in the heat of the film catering kitchen.
He worked on projects produced by Netflix, Amazon, HBO and some other well-established international production companies. In the culinary field, he achieved his dream when he cooked for his favorite actor Jean Reno.
Beside fulfilling cooperation with Responsible Herpetoculture Journal, he also contributes to the biggest Czech geographic magazine Koktejl on regular basis.
