Responsible Herpetoculture Expert (Belgium)After seeing a lizard in a zoo as a very young kid sometime in the late sixties I got obsessed with lizards. As a 10 year old kid in the late seventies I got my first gecko a Hemidactylus sp. Followed later by Tarantola mauritanica, Anolis carolinensis, Thamnophis sirtalis, Natrix maura and Phelsuma laticauda. Back in those days there wasn’t much information available about captive care. Not many people had breeding succes and there were only wild caught animals available. After leaving my parents house to study I graduated in 1990. At that time more and more animals were bred in captivity and specialized shops were around selling several species of life food, supplements, uv lamps, etc. At that time I started to work with and had breeding success with Varanus acanthurus, Emydura subglobosa, Lampropeltis triangulum campbelli, Tiliqua gigas evanescense and Testudo hermanni. In 1999 I was able to buy my first New Caledonian gecko’s Rhacodactylus cilliatus (as they were named back then). A year later I was able to get my first Rhacodactylus leachianus group one of my favorite species. From that point I mainly focused on breeding New Caledonian species mainly leachianus Mnt Koghis and Yaté locals something I am still doing today. Some other species I worked with during the first decade of 2000 were Shinisaurus crocodilurus, Nephrurus amyae, Nephrurus cinctus and Mniaurogekko chahoua. Today I focus my self mainly on Rhacodactylus leachianus, Rhacodactylus trachycephalus, Naultinus grayii and Mokopirirakau granulatus. I also have a group of 1.3 Testudo kleinmanni that hopefully start to produce soon. Further I have a Anolis equestris potior and a Cachryx defensor pair that I hope to breed in the future.
