Sam Bacchini

Professional Wildlife Biologist/Herpetologist (USA)

Sam Bacchini is a professional wildlife biologist/herpetologist and botanist in the environmental field, located in central California, United States, and a lifelong admirer, keeper and breeder of reptiles and amphibians. Much of what Sam does professionally involves senior and technical editing of biological/environmental documents, a skill that he brought to his time as editor of Herp Nation Magazine in the United States, and now, very proudly, to the Responsible Herpetoculture Journal. Prior to entering the environmental field, Sam worked at a variety of fish and reptile pet shops, a retail nursery, animal and aquarium supply dealers, the herpetology lab at the University of California, Davis,
and at the Sacramento Zoo in California. Starting at the age of 5 with a western fence lizard and Texas tortoise, Sam’s passion for animals, particularly reptiles and amphibians, was born. Currently, his particular interests include Heloderma, the Rhacodactylus complex, aquatic turtles, Manouria, Varanus sp., Madagascar, Caribbean and other island boas, Madagascar hog nose snakes and other Malagasy species, along with a wide variety of other snake, and lizard species.
