Starting in 1993 as a commercial import-export operation, BION Terrarium Center (BTC) became a reptile breeding and propagation center in 2010, with emphasis on conservation of rare and endangered species.
By producing healthy, well-adapted captive-bred reptiles that are available for the private sector, breeding centers and zoos, pressure on wild populations from poaching decreases significantly!
So far, 120 species of amphibians and reptiles have been bred at BTC across 32 years. We have developed techniques for ex situ breeding of many rare and popular species in laboratory conditions.
