Ecuadorian frog Pristimantis ruidus was lost for 100 years—until now

Two female frogs found during a research expedition in Equador in 2022. And later identified as Pristimantis ruidus. It is the first time that this species has been photographed alive. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) had listed this species as “possibly extinct” because no scientist had seen it in the wild since zoologist George Tate originally discovered the frog in 1922.
