
An endangered yakka skink is getting a helping hand deep in the heart of the mulga lands, just outside Charleville in south-west Queensland.
Predator fences dedicated to protecting stock or mammals are common in Queensland, but Mr Peck said the new project was the first time one had been built on such a scale purely to protect a reptile.
Measuring up to 45cm long, they are among largest in the skink family, and are only found in Queensland.
