In Papua New Guinea five frog species were discovered described by scientists for the first time.
- The slender spotted treefrog (Litoria gracilis)
- the Crater Mountain treehole frog (Litoria naispela)
- the Darai Plateau treefrog (L. daraiensis)
- red-bellied treefrog (L. haematogaster)
- Lisa’s treefrog (L. lisae)
“It’s only just now that we’re starting to document these behaviours and it emphasises just how comparatively poorly known, this incredibly, world-beatingly diverse frog fauna in New Guinea is.” says researchers.
